Thermal Imaging Camera Benefits You: Sports Injury Prevention Guide

In the context of the pandemic, regardless of eating or shopping, our daily lives are inseparable from the "temperature gun thermometer". However, in addition to detecting human body temperature, temperature measurement equipment has long been frequently used in industry. Through temperature measurement thermal imaging, it can be used to check for leaks, gas leaks, and other issues, and the scope of application of these instruments in daily life may be wider than you think.

Injuries and Fatigue

Injuries caused by sports or labor are common, and incorrect posture is one of the causes of the problem. Taking fitness as an example, novices who do not understand the activity trajectory of the equipment or do not know the correct sitting posture and force point will cause body load due to incorrect posture; long-term fitness enthusiasts will also appear deviations in movements when challenged with higher intensity training, which can lead to hidden dangers of injury. On the other hand, repetitive movements are also a common cause. Intense exercise involves high intensity, large amounts, and repetitive training, such as football, basketball, track and field sports, etc. Explosive and sudden stopping movements can cause strong impact on the joints, often causing athletes to accumulate pain without realizing it.

Incorrect posture and high repetition movements also frequently occur in daily work, such as repetitive muscle movements when typing or incorrect posture during logistics handling, which also cause similar labor injuries as mentioned above.

Prevention and Application

Through infrared temperature measurement thermal imaging, it is possible to clearly identify the problematic parts of the body and prevent injuries early on. When there is a significant temperature difference on one side of the body, such as when comparing the left and right hands, it indicates that the tissue in that area is damaged or inflamed. With the emergence of scientific training, using temperature measurement devices to check the status of professional athletes has become very common, greatly reducing the risk of cumulative injuries for athletes and extending their careers. The judgment of abnormal body conditions can be based on the following indicators:

  • Stage 1: Temperature difference between both sides is 0.3 to 0.4ºC: Can be observed, as this is normal for sports that have a dominant side, such as tennis, football, etc.
  • Stage 2: Temperature difference between both sides is 0.5 to 1.0ºC: Should take passive preventive measures, such as reducing the number of sets in some training or using alternative movements. When the temperature difference becomes bigger, it indicates that the problem may continue to deepen.
  • Stage 3: Temperature difference between both sides is 1.0 to 1.5ºC: The risk of injury increases significantly. At this point, active measures should be taken, such as using ice packs to alleviate pain during games and carrying knee pads and wrist guards during training.
  • Stage 4: Temperature difference between both sides is greater than 1.5ºC: The athlete will feel obvious pain, which is the threshold before injury. All Training or competition should be stopped immediately.
